Loving my treatment at Ferguson. Took a client shopping there yesterday…so impressed with the sign.

Fine Finishing
November 25, 2009We were looking for a bookcase to complete a client’s guest bedroom for months.
But everything we found was too big, too small, or too expensive.
Then I found this piece at an unfinished furniture store.
We stained the wood this deep red-brown. We accessorized it with some of the client’s treasures from travels abroad. It now sits perfectly beneath artwork of the late Big Al Carter. And now the guest bedroom is finished.
This is a reminder that you never know when or where you will run into something that you can make fabulous!
Sincerely,
Alicia

Doctor’s Office
November 24, 2009Sometimes all it takes to transform a look is to paint the walls and change the carpet.
That is precisely what I did here.
This doctor’s office was feeling run-down and un-inspiring.

So I replaced the drab and dirty light turquoise carpet with this gorgeous one. It has a grey base with bits of light turquoise and taupe running through it. The color, weight and texture in the carpet will enable it to endure the busy daily use in this office for years to come.
The walls were a tan color that did nothing for the psyche. So I chose this light blue-green paint color. It makes everyone in the office feel peaceful and cheerful.

I transformed this doctor’s office from a place one has to visit to a place one gets to visit…and all it took was paint and carpet!

Give Your Fireplace a Facelift!
November 19, 2009What would you do if you had a fireplace that was completely fine and proper, yet did nothing for the room? Such was the case with this fireplace. The black granite was in perfectly good condition, but failed to bring the room any life.
This predicament called for a quick and pocket-friendly resolution. I created this custom-colored & custom-sized Ann Sacks Erin Adams glass tile and installed it directly over the old black granite. Now the room pops with color and feels young and lively.
And, thus, this room that was just okay has become a space that reflects the fresh and fun personality of the family that lives here!

For the Love of a Chair
November 18, 2009Have you ever looked at a raggedy old chair and thought, “Wow…if only I could get my hands on that, imagine what it could become!”
Such is what happened when I stumbled upon this beauty in the back of a workroom. The curves and details simply struck me. I went home and dreamt about the chair at night. I felt it was calling me to rescue it from its run-down and dilapidated state.
So I returned to the workroom, purchased the chair, and then found this amazing Asian fretwork fabric in my favorite chartreuse green. My upholsterer stripped the horrid orange fabric, restored the wood frame, and upholstered this chair back to beauty.
Since doing this for myself, I have re-furbished other such pieces for clients. And I look forward to nursing sick chairs back to health for years to come!
Sincerely,
